Safe and Drug Free Schools
Brighton School District 27J has identified numbers of students engaging in at-risk behaviors, including substance that leads to their dropping out of school. There is a need to increase the resiliency of youth in middle and high school and to provide opportunities for their success.
The district has implemented the following initiatives:
· The District continues its partnership with Brighton and Commerce City Police to provide SRO support at secondary schools.
· Provide behavior supports in 7 schools.
· Drug/alcohol/tobacco usage surveys.
· Truancy Reduction Project.
All initiatives aim to increase positive school engagement and promote attendance.
