Adams Youth Services Center

 
The Mission of the
Adams Youth Services Center
is to protect, restore, and improve public safety through a continuum of
services and programs that:
 
·                   effectively supervise   juvenile offenders
 
·                   promote offender accountability to
                             victims and communities, and
 
·                   build skills and competencies of youth
·                   to become responsible citizens.
 

Curriculum

ENGLISH & SOCIAL STUDIES - Instructors, Cindy Price & Kimary Marchese
Students will learn to write for a purpose which includes identifying the audience, organizing ideas, and write journals, logs, and essays. The students will work to improve and increase their vocabularies and learn to use resources to find information.
 
MATH- Instructor, Lisa Paulin
Students will develop number sense, number usage, and number relationships, which will help them organize their thought process. They will begin to use algebraic methods to explore, model, and describe patterns and functions. This will also develop their logic and problem solving skills.
 
SCIENCE-  Instructor, Lisa Paulin
Students will understand the process of scientific investigation, design, conduct, and communication. They will learn the process of life, and how living things interact with the environment. They will gain confidence in reading about scientific methods and know what they can do to protect our physical environment.
 
ART- Instructor, Kimary Marchese
Students will recognize and use visual arts as a form of communication. They will learn to apply the elements of art, design, and features of visual arts. They will gain knowledge of different art materials and mediums, and understand the elements of art and the principles of design.
 
PHYSICAL EDUCATION
The students will exercise and eat healthy as a regular part of their future lifestyle. They will learn cooperation and relational skills by participating in dual and/or team sports.
 
LIFE SKILLS -Instructor, Cindy Price  
Students will explore a variety of skills to help them in their everyday lives, including budgeting and finance, decision making, goal setting, managing emotions, family care and communication, relationships, and career planning.
